Ryan Campos, a 23-year-old catcher for the Springfield Cardinals, is working to make a name for himself in the organization. Despite the team being loaded with talented catchers, Campos is doing all he can to open eyes while splitting time between catcher and designated hitter.
Campos’ Background
Campos was a fourth-round draft choice in 2024 out of Arizona State. He entered this season ranked No. 26 among Cardinals’ prospects according to Baseball America. Campos has been doing what he can to move up and make others take notice, including hitting .395 in June and boosting his season average to .287 with 11 doubles, eight home runs, and 39 RBIs.
Cardinals manager Patrick Anderson has a special interest in his catchers, being one himself during his playing days. Anderson has been impressed with Campos’ development, saying, “He’s an even-keel young man… He’s really come a long way defensively.”
Upcoming Games
