After a delayed start caused by a shortage of referees, Phoenix struck first with an opening kickoff return for a touchdown. The Pirates continued to pile on, scoring a barrage of rushing touchdowns and limiting South Eugene’s passing attack. By halftime the score was a lopsided 43-0.
