A large snake caused a power outage in Decatur, Alabama, affecting over one-third of Decatur Utilities customers. The approximately 5½-foot snake bridged two pieces of energized equipment inside a substation, triggering the disruption.
Power Restoration
Thanks to the radial design of the utility’s power grid, crews were able to reroute electricity through alternate feeds to distribution substations, restoring power to customers while repairs continued at the Cedar Lake Primary substation.
