Six Charged After Oshkosh Pool Fight Escalates to Gunfire

In Oshkosh, Wisconsin, a seemingly minor poolside disagreement escalated into a serious incident involving gunfire, leading to charges against six individuals. The altercation began at Pollock Pool, where a game of basketball in the water led to unintended splashes, sparking a physical confrontation between adults and juveniles. The situation intensified when an adult pushed a juvenile, resulting in a larger brawl.

Escalation to Gunfire

Later that day, the conflict moved to a residence near E Melvin Avenue and N Main Street. Police were called to the scene after reports of a disturbance and gunfire. A 20-year-old woman, previously involved in the pool altercation, discharged a firearm into the air outside the residence. Fortunately, no injuries occurred, and the gun was recovered by police.

The woman was arrested and faces charges including Felon in Possession of a Firearm and Endangering Safety by Use of a Dangerous Weapon. The Oshkosh Police Department is continuing its investigation into the incidents.

Community Safety Concerns

The Oshkosh Police Department emphasized the importance of maintaining safety in community spaces, such as parks and pools, which are intended for peaceful enjoyment by families and residents. They reassured the public that such acts of violence and reckless behavior will not be tolerated and that they are committed to working with the community to prevent future incidents.
