One major highway repair project in west Shreveport has been completed, while another is continuing to move ahead, according to state highway officials. The concrete panel replacement project on W. 70th Street between Jewella Avenue and Mansfield Road is finished with permanent roadway striping installed. No further lane closures are anticipated.
Hearne Avenue Repair Ongoing
But construction on a $9.6 million repair of a section of Hearne Avenue is ongoing. Milling and asphalt paving operations have begun, particularly in the section of the project between W. 70th Street and state Highway 3132. Crews are currently working to remove the old asphalt and replace it with an all-new overlay.
Additional milling/paving operations are taking place on the section of Hearne Avenue just north of W. 70th Street as well, so motorists should anticipate ongoing and intermittent lane closures. Flagging operations to facilitate the safe movement of traffic are also necessary at times.
Construction operations will continue to move north along Hearne Avenue in order to provide a fresh driving surface to the entire length of the project, which stretches from Highway 3132 to Greenwood Road. The entire project is on track to be complete in late summer, weather conditions permitting.
