Shreveport police are urging drivers to use extreme caution and avoid flooded roadways whenever possible due to recent heavy rain and flooding across the area.
Flood Safety Tips
According to Shreveport police Cpl. Chris Bordelon, just six inches of floodwater can sweep a person off their feet, and two feet can move a vehicle. Bordelon stresses that drivers should never attempt to go around barricades or drive through high water, as it can stall vehicles and put both drivers and first responders at risk.
