A Shreveport Police officer is in the hospital after being shot by a suspect in downtown Shreveport. The incident occurred at 4:30 a.m. Sunday in the alley behind the Sand bar in the 400 block of Spring Street.

The unnamed officer responded to a report of a fight in the alley and became involved in a struggle with the suspect, who pulled out a gun and fired on the officer. Despite being injured, the officer returned fire multiple times. The suspect was taken to a local hospital but was pronounced dead.
