Shoshone Teen in Critical Condition After Collision with Semi-Truck in Gooding County

An 18-year-old man from Shoshone, Idaho, is in critical condition following a serious collision with a semi-truck on Wednesday evening. The accident occurred just east of Gooding on U.S. Highway 26, according to the Idaho State Police (ISP).

Details of the Incident

The crash took place at approximately 6:38 p.m. near milepost 153. The vehicles involved were a 2019 Freightliner semi-truck, driven by a 51-year-old man also from Shoshone, and a 2013 Ford Explorer driven by the 18-year-old. Both vehicles were traveling eastbound when the Ford Explorer collided with the rear of the Freightliner as it was attempting a left turn.

The driver of the Ford Explorer was airlifted to a nearby hospital where he remains in critical condition. The eastbound lane of U.S. 26 was blocked for about two hours as emergency crews responded to the scene and conducted their initial investigation.

Ongoing Investigation

The Idaho State Police have stated that the crash is still under investigation. No further details have been released regarding the cause of the collision or any potential charges.
