The Sheridan City Council will consider a resolution to approve the Fiscal Year 2027 budget at their business meeting Monday night. Sheridan Mayor Rich Bridger says it’s a long process to prepare the budget each year.
Budget Preparation
Sheridan Mayor Rich Bridger explained that the budget preparation starts clear back in February or March, where they start meeting with department heads. They have them submit their budgets and go through those to see if they make sense. Then, in the end, they have a list of items that they need to secure for the budget, which might include equipment or projects that they want to facilitate.
The actual working budget is roughly $26 million, but they have to account for potential loans and grants that they might get in the future, which adds up to around $30 million. There are no guarantees that they will get those loans and grants, but they have to account for them as well.
