The owners of Claudia Sanders Dinner House have announced they will no longer be moving forward with plans to sell the Shelbyville landmark.

In a social media post, the restaurant said the Settle family has decided not to sell the Claudia Sanders Dinner House or the residence known as Blackwood Hall at this time.

The announcement comes after the historic restaurant and Blackwood Hall had been marketed for auction, drawing attention from across the country due to the property’s connection to Colonel Harland Sanders and the early history of Kentucky Fried Chicken.

The Settle family said they understood that the potential sale had raised concerns among community members and thanked supporters for their encouragement.

The dinner house first opened in 1959 after the Colonel and Claudia Sanders moved to Shelbyville from Corbin.

The restaurant was closely tied to the Sanders family and the early history of Kentucky Fried Chicken, serving as one of the first headquarters for the growing franchise.
