When you return from a trip, sharing your photos with family and friends can be a challenge. Instead of passing your phone around, consider sharing your photos on a bigger screen. You can use a TV, projector, laptop, tablet, or even an outdoor screen to share your photos.
Methods for Sharing Photos
There are several methods for sharing your photos, depending on the devices you have available. For iPhone owners, AirPlay is a convenient option. It works with Apple TV, many smart TVs, some Roku devices, and select Fire TV smart TVs that support AirPlay. To use AirPlay, open the album you want to share, turn on Do Not Disturb or Focus, and then select the AirPlay option from the Control Center.
For Android owners, Google Photos and Chromecast are a strong combination. This method works with Chromecast devices, Google TV Streamer, and many TVs with Google Cast built in. You can also use the Roku mobile app to upload photos and share a stream.
If you have a Samsung Galaxy phone, you can use the built-in Smart View feature to mirror your screen on a compatible TV. This method also works with some other Android devices. Alternatively, you can use a USB-C to HDMI adapter or cable to connect your phone to a TV or projector.
Using a Laptop or Tablet
A laptop or tablet can also be used to share your photos. You can open your photo album or a folder of downloaded photos and then connect your laptop to a TV or projector with an HDMI cable. On Windows, press the Windows key + P to choose how the screen appears. On a Mac, connect the display and use System Settings if you need to adjust the screen arrangement.
A tablet is a good option for smaller groups, and you can use it to cast your photos to a Chromecast-enabled TV. You can also use a streaming device, such as Roku or Fire TV, to give an older TV newer sharing features.
