Florida Sen. Ashley Moody met with veterans and local Cuban-American leaders in Miami to address the findings of a newly released State Department report. The roundtable event took place at the Bay of Pigs Brigade 2506 Museum, where participants gathered to discuss a State Department report detailing decades of propaganda and espionage activities by the Cuban government within the United States.

Cuban Regime’s Propaganda Efforts

According to the report, the Cuban regime has carried out efforts over the last 60 years aimed at influencing young Americans, designating the island nation as the center of 21st-century communism. Sen. Moody voiced her support for the South Florida exile community and efforts to promote political change in Cuba.

“This report verifies what Cuban Americans in Florida have known for decades, that the Castro Regime is waging a propaganda war on our own soil,” Moody said. “The recent rise in communism in America is not an accident. I met with members of South Florida’s Cuban American community to discuss how we can fight back to stop the spread of this evil political agenda that has destroyed every country it has infected.”

Several local officials attended the meeting, including Florida Representative Alex Rizo, alongside Miami City Commissioners Rolando Escalona and Vicki Lopez. Sen. Moody has previously taken legislative and executive actions targeting the Cuban government, including co-sponsoring the DEMOCRACIA Act, a bill proposing heightened financial sanctions and economic measures against Cuban leadership.
