Republican Sen. Mitch McConnell of Kentucky announced on Sunday that he had a fall last month that landed him in the hospital. According to McConnell, his doctors have confirmed that he didn’t break any bones or suffer a concussion. He also didn’t have a heart attack or a stroke, and doesn’t have any tumors or hemorrhages. However, he was briefly unconscious and was taken to the hospital. While receiving excellent care over the past several weeks, he’s also had to deal with a mild case of pneumonia.
McConnell said he’s moved from a hospital to a rehabilitation center to continue regaining his strength. The former Senate majority leader said he won’t be able to return to the Senate floor to vote quite yet, but he’s been working closely with legislative staff in the meantime.
