A licensed plumber with over 22 years of experience, Jack Lanham, is using his skills to serve others in his community. Lanham, who owns Wild West Plumbing, has been providing free home estimates and has recognized that many seniors, veterans, and lower-income residents in the DFW metroplex cannot afford to fix their plumbing issues.
A Calling to Serve
Lanham’s desire to help others stems from his Christian faith, which he believes calls him to be a faithful steward of God. He has been fixing plumbing for free for those in need, including a 90-year-old widow in Burleson who couldn’t afford to repair her home’s original plumbing. Lanham’s company provides residential and commercial services, but he is now considering starting a nonprofit to help those who cannot afford plumbing repairs.
Lanham’s efforts have not gone unnoticed, and his cousin, Ali Mazur, recently reached out to him to help a Vietnam veteran who had a plumbing problem. Lanham fixed the issue for free, telling the veteran that he had already paid for it with his military service. Lanham’s goal is to uplift his community, not to make people feel indebted to him.
The Importance of Plumbing
Plumbing is a critical aspect of public health, and many experts rank it as one of the most critical public health achievements in human history. However, plumbing repairs can be costly, especially for those who cannot afford them. Lanham hopes that his nonprofit will be able to provide affordable plumbing services to those in need, helping to improve the overall health and well-being of his community.
