Sen. Mitch McConnell, the former Senate majority leader, announced on Thursday that he has been discharged from a rehabilitation center where he was recovering from a fall. McConnell, 84, will continue his recovery at home.

McConnell expressed gratitude for the well wishes and support he received from friends, colleagues, and Kentuckians, as well as the care he received from doctors, nurses, therapists, and hospital staff. On the advice of his doctors, he will maintain an intensive regimen of physical therapy from home during the state work period and continue to engage with his staff and colleagues on important Senate business.

McConnell was admitted to the hospital on June 14, but his office did not disclose the reason for the hospitalization at the time. In July, he announced that a fall had landed him in the hospital, and he was later moved to a rehabilitation center to continue regaining his strength.
