Court documents show that Washington was working for the suspect, John Nolte II, and Nolte suspected that Washington was involved in a burglary on his property. Washington was found dead with gunshot wounds, and the documents said a barn on Nolte’s property had burned down.
Washington’s family remembered him as a loving family man who always helped people. His grandmother, Barbara Washington, said, ‘He loved everybody. If he were here today, he’d welcome you with all his heart.’ His mother, Georgia Washington, said, ‘Building was his passion. He loved to build, and he loved his family. His family meant everything to him.’
The case will now go to a jury trial, and Nolte could face the death penalty or life in prison if found guilty.
