Marquavious Wheaton, 26, appeared in court for the first time on Friday, facing a long list of charges related to a deadly crash in Casselberry that killed two brothers, Christopher Marier, 42, and Tyler Marier, 40.
Charges and Court Appearance
Wheaton is accused of speeding away from an attempted traffic stop on Tuesday, driving over 100 mph, blowing through red lights, and weaving through traffic. Deputies did not pursue him. Court records reveal investigators believe Wheaton hit another car before crashing into the vehicle the Marier brothers were in.
At the time of his arrest, Wheaton was on active felony probation for a previous case. The court said the charges related to the crash put him in breach of his probation. He is expected to be back in court on August 24 for his probation violation and September 1 for the other charges.
Wheaton was held without bond at the John E. Polk Correctional Facility in Seminole County. His appearance was the first step in the court proceedings for this case, and it came just three days after the accident.
