The Santa Maria Fairpark is strategizing for the future by creating a new community-based partnership to increase usage at the downtown facility.
Partnership Goals
The Fairpark Board of Directors has started the process to work more closely with the Santa Maria Valley Chamber and the City to achieve this goal. According to Todd Ventura, Santa Maria Fairpark Interim CEO, the city needs more green space, parks, and recreation areas as the community continues to grow.
Santa Maria Assistant City Manager Chuen Wu stated that the two entities are in the preliminary stages of discussing recreational opportunities and events to be held at the venue. The Fairpark has recently hosted the first-ever Santa Maria Comic Con and the annual West Coast Kustoms Cruisin’ Nationals car show.
The Santa Maria BBQ Festival will also move to the Fairpark in September, relocating from Pioneer Park. These events are the type of gatherings the Fairpark, City, and Chamber hope to attract on a regular basis.
