President Donald Trump’s Great American State Fair has come to an end, with the 16-day event seeing moderate turnout despite weather delays and logistical setbacks. The fair, which was organized by Freedom 250, a Trump-backed nonprofit, featured exhibits from various US states and territories, as well as a daily rodeo performance and a 110-foot Ferris wheel.
Religious Ministry Benefited from the Event
A surprising beneficiary of the event was David’s Tent, a 24/7 musical prayer ministry that operated on the grounds of the National Mall. At least 190 people were baptized over the past 16 days, including Barry Lee Williams, an 81-year-old visitor to Washington, DC. Williams’ baptism was described as a ‘literal religious experience’ by him.
The fair also featured pavilions for prominent government agencies, such as the Department of Justice and the Department of Homeland Security. However, some of the pavilions containing state booths occasionally closed due to a lack of air conditioning.
Attendance and Reviews
According to Freedom 250, the fair saw around 150,000 people in the first three days, but attendance was modest overall. Reviews for the fair have been mixed, with some visitors expressing disappointment at the lack of shade and the prohibition on outside food and water. Others, however, enjoyed the event, including a couple from Northern Virginia who attended the fair on its final day.
President Trump wrote on social media that the fair was ‘packed with happy people’ and that everybody was ‘loving it.’ However, some visitors disagreed, citing the fair’s politicized nature and the fact that it was not as well-attended as expected.
