The Santa Maria City Council is set to finalize language for a new sales tax measure that will appear on the November ballot. The measure, which was approved by the City Council in May, would impose a one-half cent Transaction & Use Tax to support city services.
Measure Details
The tax is intended to ensure continuity of city services, including road repair and maintenance of public facilities such as the Library and Paul Nelson Aquatic Center. The annual revenue generated from the tax is expected to be around $13 million.
In addition to the sales tax measure, Santa Maria voters will also be electing three new members to the City Council in November. A one-month nomination period for the election is set to begin on Monday.
