A Santa Fe man is facing his sixth DWI charge after crashing his vehicle into a residential wall on Friday. According to a Santa Fe police spokesperson, Shawn Martinez was driving near the 100 block of South El Rancho Road when he crashed into a wall.
First responders initially responded to the call, anticipating a medical emergency, but a DWI officer soon arrived and suspected that Martinez was under the influence. During the investigation, police found several containers of alcohol in Martinez’s vehicle. He refused to take a sobriety test at the scene and was taken into custody.
Police soon learned that Martinez had five prior DWI convictions and was driving with a revoked driver’s license at the time of his arrest. He has been charged with aggravated DWI, driving while his license was revoked, no proof of insurance, and possession of alcoholic beverages in an open container in a motor vehicle.
