The Santa Barbara Volleyball Club captured the 2026 AAU Boys 17 Premier National Championship with a perfect 12-0 record in a four-day event.
Championship Win
SBVC 17-1 defeated Vegas United in the championship match on Friday. The tournament featured more than 350 teams in the 17s age group, including more than 90 teams in the 17 Premier Division.
San Marcos High School rising-senior Mateo Burdick, a UCSB-commit, was named the Most Valuable Player of the tournament. Burdick and his teammates Keanu Nguyen and Soren Alldredge earned All-Tournament Team honors.
Burdick provided a steady offensive presence throughout the tournament, while Hayes Costner and Nathan Biron gave SBVC consistent production from the left side and applied constant pressure from the service line.
Keanu Nguyen anchored the team’s passing and defensive systems, allowing the offense to stay in rhythm throughout the tournament. Setters Maddox Denver and Tyler Walker orchestrated a fast-paced offense that created pressure from every area of the court.
Middle blockers Soren Alldredge and Moses Schlobohm elevated their play on days three and four, stringing together key runs with blocks and kills that opened the court for SBVC’s pin hitters.
“Winning a national championship is an incredible accomplishment, but we’re just as proud of the way these young men represented Santa Barbara,” said SBVC Club Director Nick Vogel.
