Body‑camera footage details the arrest
The East Palestine Police Department’s body‑camera footage captures York, wearing a New York Yankees T‑shirt, exiting the driver’s seat of a silver SUV. An officer orders, “Step out of the car. Put your hands on the car. Spread your feet for me.” York complies and is placed in handcuffs.
Another officer asks, “Can I ask what you’re doing? What are you doing here?” York replies, “Just driving.” When asked if he was meeting anyone, he says, “No.” The video then shows York being led to a patrol car and later booked into the county jail.
Charges and plea
York was initially charged with engaging in prostitution. Prosecutors later amended the charge to disorderly conduct. He also faced a misdemeanor for possessing criminal tools after using his phone to respond to an undercover online prostitution advertisement. York pleaded no contest to both charges.
Under the plea agreement, York received a one‑day jail sentence to be served concurrently for the two offenses, with credit for the day already served. He was fined $1,150, and the $160 he attempted to pay was seized and given to the human‑trafficking task force. As part of the resolution, York completed an online educational course.
Background and personal context
York, who grew up near Youngstown, Ohio, has spent much of the summer in the state. Court records indicate he filed for divorce from his wife, Danielle, in May. On Monday, he formally pleaded guilty to the two misdemeanors.
