A 48-year-old woman in San Antonio’s East Side was bitten multiple times by one of her own dogs during a backyard incident, according to San Antonio Animal Care Services (ACS). The event took place on Friday afternoon in the 1000 block of South Mittman Street.
The woman was attempting to let her pets into the backyard when a fight broke out among them. In the process, she suffered multiple bites to both forearms and sustained injuries to her left leg. ACS has not disclosed whether she required hospitalization.
Animal Control Response
Following the incident, ACS impounded a 2-year-old male Spitz mix for mandatory quarantine. The agency also issued criminal citations to the pet owner for failing to provide a current rabies vaccination and microchip for the dog involved.
This incident highlights the importance of responsible pet ownership, including ensuring that pets are properly vaccinated and identifiable through microchipping. Such measures not only protect the animals but also safeguard the community.
