A West Side Mexican restaurant, Ramona’s Taco, was given a score of 86 after inspectors from Metro Health found 17 health code violations, including rat feces, during a June 15 inspection.
Health Inspection Report
The inspection report listed the 17 demerits issued to the restaurant for issues like rat feces, cooking equipment encrusted with grease, and uncovered food in the freezer. Metro Health ordered the restaurant to undergo another inspection.
A longtime customer of the restaurant expressed surprise and concern upon learning of the health code violations. The customer stated, ‘I think it’s nasty, and I just made an order right now. I’m thinking about when I should go get my money back.’
The owner of the restaurant, Doña Ramona, allowed KSAT’s cameras behind the kitchen door and stated that fumigators are taking care of the rodents. The owner also plans to close the restaurant for a few weeks later this summer for repairs.
