In a video message, Hagar expressed his sorrow over the canceled tour dates and encouraged Roth to return to the stage whenever he’s ready. Hagar also invited Roth to join him and Michael Anthony during their Las Vegas residency in September.
Hagar’s message marked a notable turn in the two rock icons’ relationship, which has been defined by competition over the years. After Roth exited Van Halen in 1985, Hagar stepped in as the band’s new frontman alongside Eddie Van Halen, Alex Van Halen, and Michael Anthony.
Roth has not publicly addressed the canceled dates or responded to Hagar’s invitation. The reason for the cancellations has not been announced, and only Roth’s July dates have been scrapped.
