Salvation Army Toledo Offers Free Donuts and Coffee for National Donut Day

The Salvation Army Greater Toledo is inviting the community to enjoy free donuts and coffee this Friday in celebration of National Donut Day. The event will take place at 1 Government Center, located at 640 Jackson St. in downtown Toledo, from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.

A Tradition of Service

National Donut Day, established in 1938, commemorates the efforts of The Salvation Army’s ‘Donut Lassies’ who served on the front lines during World War I. These dedicated women provided soldiers with essential supplies and morale-boosting treats, including donuts, during the war. The Salvation Army continues this legacy of service by offering a range of social services to support vulnerable individuals and families.

This Friday, the organization invites everyone in the community to partake in this tradition by enjoying complimentary donuts and coffee. The event aims to bring people together and highlight the ongoing commitment of The Salvation Army to serve those in need.

Community Engagement

The Salvation Army’s initiative is a reminder of the importance of community support and engagement. By providing these small tokens of appreciation, the organization hopes to foster a sense of unity and gratitude among Toledo residents. This event is open to all, reflecting The Salvation Army’s mission to serve without discrimination.
