Border crossing briefly closed
The Yahodyn crossing, a key conduit for military and humanitarian aid, was shut down for a short period after the strike. By 10 a.m. local time on Sunday, the crossing was back to normal operation, allowing the flow of aid to continue.
Ukrainian officials condemn the strike
Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha denounced the attack on X, calling it “Russia’s barbaric strikes at the Ukraine‑Poland border crossing point in Yahodyn” and warning that it represented a direct threat to the European Union and NATO.
Other recent drone attacks
In a separate incident, Ukrainian Railways said a Russian drone hit a passenger train locomotive in Volyn, roughly two kilometres from the Polish border. President Volodymyr Zelensky said Russia had deliberately burned the locomotive and damaged the gas station in a coordinated drone strike.
Zelensky also noted that Russia has launched more than 2,000 drones against Ukraine in the past week, many of which are fast, jet‑powered models that are harder to intercept than conventional drones.
Ukrainian retaliation
Ukraine’s military reported that its Special Operations Forces, together with the Security Service of Ukraine and the Main Intelligence Directorate, struck the TANECO oil refinery in Nizhnekamsk, Tatarstan, Russia. Tatarstan officials said two civilians were killed and several others injured in the Ukrainian attack.
