Round Rock Independent School District (ISD) is stepping up to support local families by offering free summer meals at eight campuses. This initiative is part of the Texas Summer Meals program, designed to ensure that children and young adults with disabilities under 21 have access to nutritious meals during the summer months.
The participating schools include Deep Wood Elementary School, Deerpark Middle School, Double File Trail Elementary School, Hopewell Middle School, Joe Lee Johnson Elementary School, Live Oak Elementary School, and Union Hill Elementary School. These schools will provide meals on varying schedules through July 31.
In a move that respects family privacy and ease of access, no identification or registration is required for families to participate. Meals must be consumed on-site, ensuring that the program supports community interaction and engagement.
Program Details
This initiative is made possible through a partnership with the Texas Department of Agriculture. It targets areas where over 50% of children qualify for free or reduced-price meals under the National School Lunch Program. By removing barriers to access, Round Rock ISD is helping to alleviate food insecurity and support family well-being during the summer break.
Families interested in participating can simply show up at any of the listed campuses during the designated distribution times to receive meals. This program underscores the importance of community support and the role of local schools in fostering a nurturing environment for all children.
