Police in Wolcott, Conn. are investigating a disturbing case of animal cruelty after two dead pitbulls were found inside garbage bags on a walking trail near Woodtick Road and Boundline Road.

According to police, officers responded to a report of two garbage bags emitting a strong, foul odor on Saturday. When they arrived, they found the two dead dogs inside the bags. The dogs are being transported to UConn’s Pathobiology and Veterinary Science program for necropsies to help determine the cause of their deaths.
Desmond’s Army, an animal welfare organization, is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the person or people responsible for the crime. Police are asking anyone with information to come forward and call Detective Tim Jackson, the lead investigator on the case, at 203-879-1414.
