A 64-year-old Haines City man died Tuesday morning after being struck by a dump truck in Polk County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred around 9:35 a.m. at the intersection of South 30th Street and Robinson Drive. State troopers reported that a 36-year-old Winter Haven man was driving the dump truck northbound on South 30th Street when he attempted to turn right onto Robinson Drive.
At the same time, the man was walking southbound across the roadway inside a crosswalk. As the truck made the turn, it struck the man. Investigators confirmed the pedestrian died from his injuries at the scene.
