A rescue mission in Floyds Fork has transitioned to a recovery effort after a man went missing in the water. Two people were rescued during the five-hour search and rescue operation.
Challenges in the Rescue Effort
According to Assistant Chief Dewayne Hutchens, the strong current in the water created significant challenges for the rescue teams. The water was moving about three times faster than normal, making it difficult for crews to search the area and locate the missing individuals.
The search team, consisting of approximately 50 emergency crew members from multiple agencies, used various resources such as boats, helicopters, drones, and other equipment to try and locate the missing person. Despite their efforts, the man has not been found, and the search was paused due to limited visibility and the strong current.
Operations are expected to resume on Monday morning. The incident occurred on Sunday evening, with the first calls for help coming in around 6 p.m.
