Republicans dominate Wyoming’s federal and Natrona County races in 2026

Casper, WY – On Tuesday, Wyoming voters reaffirmed the state’s long‑standing commitment to conservative leadership, delivering decisive victories for the Republican Party at the federal, state and county levels.

Federal victories lift President Trump’s agenda

U.S. Rep. Harriet Hageman captured the open Senate seat with roughly 65% of the vote, defeating Democrat James Byrd. Hageman, a staunch ally of President Trump, pledged to continue advancing the President’s agenda in Washington. “The people of Wyoming have hired me to do a new job. I am grateful, and I will not let you down,” she said after the count.

In the House race, former Casper radio host and Secretary of State Chuck Gray won the state’s lone congressional seat with about 54% of the vote, beating Democrat Lisa Kinney and third‑party challengers. Gray, who earned Trump’s endorsement in 2022, highlighted his record of enforcing proof‑of‑citizenship voter rules and opposing ranked‑choice voting during his tenure as secretary of state.

Statewide offices stay firmly Republican

Republican state Sen. Eric Barlow was elected governor with 68.6% of the vote, succeeding term‑limited Gov. Mark Gordon. Barlow, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and longtime legislator, emphasized his grassroots campaign of traveling the state and listening to neighbors.

Converse County Commissioner Robert Short secured the secretary‑of‑state office with 67.8% of the vote, positioning him to continue the policies Gray championed. In the education arena, Rep. Steve Harshman won the superintendent of public instruction race with 75.1% of the vote, promising to uphold Wyoming’s values in schools.

Natrona County mirrors the statewide GOP sweep

Natrona County voters mirrored the state trend. Hageman earned 14,246 votes in the county, while Gray received 11,210 votes, outpacing Democrat Lisa Kinney’s 7,017. Barlow captured 14,871 county votes, and Short took 14,678. Local Republican candidates also retained all contested House seats and added several unopposed victories, preserving a strong GOP majority in both chambers of the Wyoming Legislature.

Republicans now hold 55 seats in the Wyoming House of Representatives and 29 seats in the Senate, ensuring continued conservative policymaking on issues such as energy development, fiscal responsibility and protection of family values.

What this means for Wyoming families

The election outcomes signal stability for Wyoming’s traditional families and faith‑based communities. With a unified Republican delegation in Washington and a solid GOP majority at home, the state is positioned to advance policies that protect parental rights, support local businesses and uphold constitutional freedoms.

As the new officials settle into their roles, they have pledged to keep Wyoming’s voice strong in the nation’s capital and to continue the work of preserving the state’s heritage of liberty, faith and family.
