U.S. Rep. Max Miller, a Republican from Northeast Ohio, is standing firm amid calls for his resignation over allegations he abused his ex-wife and a former girlfriend. Miller plans to ask for a congressional ethics investigation into himself to clear his name from these allegations.
Allegations and Response
Among those calling for Miller’s resignation are his former father-in-law, U.S. Sen. Bernie Moreno, who called Miller a danger to his daughter and granddaughter. Sens. Shelley Moore Capito and Roger Marshall also joined the call for Miller’s resignation. Miller denies the charges, and President Donald Trump did not call for him to drop out.
Miller released an online public Dropbox containing documents, recordings, and records relating to the allegations. He likened his controversy to allegations Trump faced and fought over the years. Former White House Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham, Miller’s ex-girlfriend, accused Miller of being violent and filed for a restraining order against him.
Miller told CNN that Grisham and his ex-wife are lying, along with another woman who leveled similar allegations when Miller was a teenager. He stated that he will not resign and will continue to fight the allegations.
