U.S. Rep. Dan Meuser addressed his Williamsport office’s accessibility during a Lycoming County Patriots meeting. Meuser stated that the office relies on direct contact with staff rather than fixed hours.
Office Accessibility
When asked about the office being frequently unstaffed, Meuser explained that Williamsport is the largest city in his district, which stretches from near Wilkes-Barre, Hazleton, Reading, and to the New York border. He noted that Pottsville served as his original district office hub before the northern tier was added to the district.
Meuser identified James May as his regional director based in Williamsport. May said he has met with the group of regular visitors outside the office and that the office posts his cell phone number and email address for constituents to reach staff when the office is unmanned.
Future Plans
Meuser and May are considering relocating the office to a shared space in county offices after the November election, which could allow for part-time administrative staff and more consistent office hours.
