Rep. John Lee of Washington’s 18th Legislative District recently wrote a letter to U.S. Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy requesting denial of the record of decision for the $15 billion Interstate Bridge Replacement Project. The project has become a textbook example of unchecked scope creep, fiscal irresponsibility, and mission failure, Lee stated.
Concerns Over Project Costs
Lee cited concerns over the project’s rising costs and the need for firm federal oversight to protect American taxpayers. He suggested alternative options, including rescinding the two federal grants or requiring an updated benefit-cost analysis. Lee also requested a face-to-face meeting with Secretary Duffy to discuss the project’s issues.
