The Redwater Dragons are looking to continue growing under head coach Bryce Haugh and the coaching staff. Despite finishing the year with an overall record of 2-8, Redwater ended the 2025 season with some momentum.

Season Goals

The Dragons won two of their final three games to head to the offseason on a positive note. The team defeated Queen City before taking down Hughes Springs in the last game of the season. Now, the Dragons are excited about trying to accomplish their goals in 2026.

"Make the playoffs and win at home," Haugh said when asked what the team’s goals for the season are. The Dragons will look to carry their momentum from the end of last season and this offseason to the 2026 season, which begins Aug. 28 at Paul Pewitt.

The team has a plethora of experience on both sides of the ball, with Braelan Morgan at quarterback to lead what could be an explosive offense in 2026. Defensively, Haugh believes a shift in the style will help the Dragons accomplish their goals this season as well.

Team Expectations

"We return six starters on each side of the ball. Our offense has improved the last two years under the leadership of Braelan Morgan," Haugh said. "Shifting our defense to a 4-3 will fit our personnel better." Morgan returns to lead the Dragon offense, giving the team a versatile and experienced threat at the quarterback position.

Nathan Pool and Maddox Matkoff will anchor the offensive line, with Matkoff being an all-district lineman. The Dragons obviously want to advance to the postseason. If the Dragons want to do that, they will have to surpass the fifth-place prediction in District 9-3A Division II from Dave Campbell’s Texas Football.
