Redstone Arsenal Celebrates Army’s 251st Birthday with Family Events and Fireworks

Redstone Arsenal in Alabama is set to commemorate the Army’s 251st birthday with a community celebration filled with family-friendly activities, live entertainment, and a spectacular fireworks display. The event will take place at Redstone Gateway on Saturday, from 4 to 9 p.m., offering a mix of returning favorites and new attractions.

Family Activities and Entertainment

Stephanie Stone, the marketing and special events manager for Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation’s Community Recreation Division, shared that attendees can expect a variety of engaging activities. These include a new 121-foot obstacle course, giant-sized games, and the Zone Mobile Gaming Truck. A highlight of the evening will be a performance by The Rock Mob, an ’80s and ’90s cover band from Ozark, Alabama.

More than 70 local vendors will be present, offering a range of items such as candles, soaps, baked goods, art, books, woodworking pieces, 3D-printed designs, crochet items, fried pies, and candy. The event aims to support local businesses and provide a platform for artisans to showcase their work.

Fireworks and Logistics

The celebration will conclude with a 15-minute fireworks finale at 8:45 p.m. Ed Nunn, the Family and MWR Director, emphasized that the event is free and open to the public. Parking will be available starting at 3:30 p.m., with clear signage directing attendees to the designated areas. Drivers are advised to turn right from Research Boulevard/Rideout Road at the first traffic light on Redstone Gateway and then take an immediate right into the Boeing Complex.

Organizers encourage attendees to pay attention to the signage and follow directions from police to ensure a smooth and safe experience for everyone. This celebration not only honors the Army’s rich history but also brings the community together in a spirit of camaraderie and patriotism.
