The families of Cincinnati Reds players are hosting a fundraiser to support the Ohio CASA chapter. The fundraiser features autographed items, including a Geno Suarez bat and batting gloves, as well as an Elly De La Cruz ball.
Supporting a Good Cause
The idea for the fundraiser came from Jordyn Pagan, the wife of Reds player Emilio Pagan. She bonded with other players’ families over fundraising opportunities and decided to organize an event to support Ohio CASA.
Ohio CASA is a strong chapter of a national organization that serves counties across Greater Cincinnati. The organization provides a voice for children who are navigating the court system and are often experiencing abuse or neglect.
According to Doug Stevens, executive director of Ohio CASA, the organization’s volunteers are the voice of the child, looking after their best interests. In Ohio, there are about 2,500 volunteers representing around 10,000 children.
The fundraiser is not the only event planned to support Ohio CASA. The wives and families of Reds players will also participate in a charity softball game against the wives and families of the Guardians’ players at the end of July.
