Redmond Celebrates New Roundabout and Airport Way Extension Opening

The City of Redmond, Oregon is set to celebrate a significant milestone with the completion of the Veterans Way and Airport Way roundabout. A public ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place on Friday, June 5 at 10:00 a.m., marking the opening of this new infrastructure, which is part of the broader Eastside Arterial Project.

Enhancing Local Connectivity

The new roundabout and the Airport Way extension represent a major phase completion in the ongoing efforts to improve safety and connectivity across Redmond’s eastside corridor. This development is expected to ease congestion and enhance mobility for residents and travelers alike. Additionally, the southern connection at 9th Street will open on June 8, providing a new link from Airport Way to OR126.

The Eastside Arterial Project employs the Progressive Design Build method, allowing for close collaboration between contractors and the city to make real-time adjustments, such as temporary detour roads, to minimize disruption. The City of Redmond has expressed gratitude to local businesses and the community for their patience during construction.

Event Details and Future Plans

Parking for the ribbon-cutting event will be available by turning south onto 9th Street from the Hwy 126 and 9th Street roundabout. This segment will be open exclusively for event attendees. Following the ceremony, a full road closure will occur from June 5–7 to finalize the roadway tie-ins, with the official public opening scheduled for June 8.

For ongoing updates and information about the Eastside Arterial Project, residents can visit the city’s website or contact Principal Engineer Jake Sherman. This project underscores Redmond’s commitment to improving infrastructure and supporting community growth.
