Wylie Park in Aberdeen, South Dakota, is home to a rare white bison, a sacred animal in Native American culture. The park’s manager, Mark Grote, ensured that displaying the animal would not be offensive to Native Americans by contacting the Bureau of Indian Affairs.
A BIA official confirmed that it would not be insulting to showcase the white bison in the petting park. The animal is one of three bison calves at the park this summer.
