Raman Edges Ahead in LA Mayoral Race

Los Angeles City Councilmember Nithya Raman has edged ahead of Spencer Pratt in the city’s mayoral election, with Mayor Karen Bass securely in first place. According to the latest results from the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk’s Office, Bass has 34.68% of the vote, while Raman has 27.12% and Pratt has 26.69%.

Election Uncertainty

With about 150,000 ballots still to be counted, it is uncertain whether Raman or Pratt will oppose Bass in the November 3 ballot. The next update is scheduled for 4 p.m. Pacific time on Monday.

Pratt, a former reality TV star and Republican, has criticized Bass for her response to the devastating Palisades Fire in January 2025 and for her handling of crime, homelessness, and housing. Raman, a Democrat and member of the Democratic Socialists of America, has said that many Angelenos feel the city is headed in the wrong direction.

President Donald Trump has weighed in on the election, suggesting that there may be election tampering. Pratt has also expressed skepticism about the vote-counting process, posting a photo on Instagram with a humorous reference to the movie ‘A Beautiful Mind’.
