Arcadia Businesses Hit by Copper Wire Thieves

Several downtown Arcadia businesses were hit by copper wire thieves last week, leaving owners to deal with the aftermath of thousands of dollars in damages. The thieves stole copper tubing connected to air conditioning units, with some instances requiring them to dig the copper out of the ground.

Business Owners Speak Out

Donna Butler and Jennifer Hawkins, owners of Calico Corner, expressed their frustration at the theft, stating that it was disheartening to have someone cause so much damage to their small business. Brad Bennett, owner of the old pharmacy downtown and The Bienville Democrat office, also spoke out against the theft, emphasizing the impact it has on hardworking business owners and the community.

All of the business owners filed police reports with the Arcadia Police Department, but the investigation is ongoing. The police department is urging anyone with information to come forward and contact them at 318-263-8456 or the Bienville Parish Sheriff’s Office at 318-263-2215.
