Rainy Weather to Persist in Kentucky Through Mid-Week

Residents of Central and Eastern Kentucky should prepare for more wet weather as a frontal boundary currently positioned in Southern Kentucky is expected to move northward on Tuesday. This shift will bring increased chances of showers and thunderstorms, particularly as people return to work following the Memorial Day holiday.

Despite the rainy conditions, temperatures are expected to remain in the mid-70s, providing some relief from the clouds and showers. The region has already seen significant rainfall over the holiday weekend, with totals reaching 2 to 3 inches in many areas. This rain has been beneficial in addressing the drought conditions that have affected the area throughout the spring.

Mid-Week Weather Outlook

The damp weather pattern is expected to persist into mid-week as the stalled front continues to influence the region. Additional rainfall of over an inch is anticipated by Wednesday, which will further alleviate the drought situation. However, residents should remain prepared for occasional rain and storms during this period.

High pressure building into the Great Lakes is forecasted to push the front south of Kentucky by Thursday, bringing drier air and more sunshine to the area. As a result, temperatures are expected to rise, with highs reaching the low 80s by the end of the week.

Looking Ahead to the Weekend

As we approach the final weekend of May, the weather trend appears to be shifting towards drier conditions. This is welcome news for those planning outdoor activities as the summer season begins. A weak cold front is expected to pass through the Ohio Valley on Saturday, which may bring a slight chance of showers. Nonetheless, the weekend should feature a mix of clouds and sunshine, with temperatures in the mid-70s.

Overall, the less active weather pattern is anticipated to continue into early June, with temperatures gradually increasing to the upper 70s.
