The Original Rainbow Cone, a family-owned ice cream shop in Beverly, is celebrating its 100th anniversary with a party on Sunday. The shop, founded by Joe and Katherine Sapp in 1926, is known for its signature five-layered cone made of chocolate, strawberry, pistachio, orange sherbet, and a cherry-filled flavor.
Family Tradition
Under the leadership of third-generation owner Lynn Sapp, the business has expanded to over 20 locations across Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, Michigan, Tennessee, and Florida. Lynn Sapp took over the business from her parents, Robert and Jean, in 1987 and described Rainbow Cone as ‘the center of her family’s life.’ The shop has become a staple of summers in Beverly, with its unique ice cream flavors and family-friendly atmosphere.
The 100th anniversary celebration will feature prizes, including free treats, gift cards, and branded merchandise. Guests can also meet with members of the Sapp family, including owner Lynn Sapp, who will give opening remarks before a special birthday cake cutting.
