Protect and Serve Texas PAC highlights federal record of HD 93 candidate Ericka Lomick

Protect and Serve Texas PAC has published a dossier on Democratic candidate Ericka Lomick, who is seeking the Texas House seat for District 93 in Tarrant County. The PAC’s research, posted on September 17, points to Lomick’s federal criminal history, including a mortgage‑fraud conspiracy conviction, bank‑fraud charges, and money‑laundering allegations.

Federal case background

Federal court records show that Ericka L. Flood, also known as Ericka Lomick, was charged in 2010 as part of a mortgage‑fraud investigation in North Carolina. The case, U.S. v. Sharreff‑El, et al. (3:10‑cr‑00124), listed one count of mortgage‑fraud conspiracy, four counts of bank fraud, one count of money‑laundering conspiracy and two counts of concealment of money laundering.

Lomick entered a plea agreement on January 4, 2011, admitting guilt to the mortgage‑fraud conspiracy, the related bank‑fraud scheme, and the money‑laundering conspiracy. She received concurrent federal prison terms, including a 63‑month sentence.

Post‑conviction actions

While incarcerated, Lomick pursued a post‑conviction challenge under 28 U.S.C. § 2255. The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit dismissed her appeal as untimely in a 2013 opinion.

The PAC also alleges that an assistant U.S. attorney for the Western District of North Carolina filed a $300,000 lien against Lomick with the Tarrant County Clerk’s Office on January 30, 2024. According to the PAC’s research page, Lomick and another defendant were held jointly and severally liable for that restitution amount. The Dallas Express has not independently verified the current status of the lien.

Election context

Lomick is running against Republican nominee Alan Blaylock for the regular November 3 general election and a special election to fill the unexpired term after former Rep. Nate Schatzline resigned. The Texas Secretary of State lists both contests for District 93, and Governor Greg Abbott ordered the special election on August 20.

Official Tarrant County results show Lomick ran unopposed in the March 3 Democratic primary, receiving 14,140 votes. The Texas Democratic Party currently lists her as its House District 93 candidate.

Candidate’s own statements

Lomick’s campaign website describes her background in business operations, sales management and strategic leadership. She states, “Ericka is ready to lead with integrity, compassion, and results‑driven action. With your support, she will fight every day to make House District 93 one of the strongest, safest, and most prosperous districts in Texas.”

The Dallas Express reached out to Lomick for comment on the federal case, prison sentence and the PAC’s lien allegation but has not received a response.
