The Pride of Prattville Marching Band is gearing up to march in Philadelphia as part of the 250th Salute to Independence Parade. The band, the only one chosen from Alabama, will be representing the state alongside Miss Alabama and the Azalea Trail Maids from Mobile.
Preparations Underway
The band held a rehearsal parade from the bandfield at Prattville High School to the front parking lot to simulate the 2 1/2 mile parade route in Philadelphia. Cheerleaders, parents, and spectators were there to cheer them on. The trip will include 88 band members, 15 parents, and four staff members, who are scheduled to leave tomorrow morning.
The parade will be televised on C-SPAN, with the band listed as the 40th participant. After this parade, the band will perform again in another parade in Philadelphia on Saturday, July 4, before going on a tour of Washington, DC. They will return on Wednesday, July 8.
