Portland is celebrating in style this Fourth of July weekend, with tens of thousands of residents turning out for two marquee community events that showcase the city’s love of live music and soccer.
The Portland Timbers announced a Soccer Celebration at Providence Park for the USA’s Round of 16 World Cup match on July 6 — and the response from fans was overwhelming. All 20,000 tickets were claimed, selling out the watch party and filling the beloved stadium to capacity for what promises to be an electric shared viewing experience.
Meanwhile, the beloved Waterfront Blues Festival kicked off in downtown Portland, bringing live blues music back to the city’s scenic riverfront. The festival, which also features a fireworks show, is one of the Pacific Northwest’s most anticipated summer traditions, drawing music lovers of all ages to the banks of the Willamette River.
Together, the two events reflect a city eager to gather, celebrate, and enjoy the best of summer — and Portland is delivering on all fronts this holiday weekend.
