A Portland man is dead after a crash involving an SUV, police said. The crash happened around 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. First responders were called to a serious crash on Route 17 (Gospel Lane).
According to officials, a motorcycle, operated by 36-year-old David Garneau, was riding north on Route 17 when he struck the side of an SUV turning left into Portland Golf West. Garneau was thrown from the bike and was hit by another vehicle driving southbound.
Garneau was taken to Middlesex Hospital before he was flown to Hartford Hospital via LifeStar with life-threatening injuries. He later died from his injuries, police said. Other minor injuries were reported in the crash.
The crash is still under investigation. Anyone who has information is asked to call the Portland Police Department.
