Polk County, Texas – Detectives with the Polk County Sheriff’s Office announced Friday that a burglary investigation conducted on Oct. 27 culminated in the arrest of five East Texans and the seizure of significant quantities of methamphetamine and related paraphernalia.
Investigation turns to a Livingston residence
While pursuing suspects wanted on felony warrants, detectives examined a burglarized building and were directed to the home of Jason Ross Lada, 43, of Livingston. Inside the residence, officers located Savanna Leanna Parker, 23, also of Livingston, who was wanted for several felonies.
During the search, officers observed suspected drugs in plain view, prompting a search warrant for the property. The warrant allowed a thorough sweep of the home and its outbuildings.
Drug finds and additional arrests
In a garage/shop area occupied by Terry Nash, 65, of Chester, detectives recovered 20 grams of methamphetamine. A separate search of the main house, where Lada and Evelyn Genevieve Woodward, both of Livingston, resided, yielded more than 10 grams of meth, hypodermic needles and other drug paraphernalia.
Investigators also discovered less than one gram of meth inside a truck belonging to Douglas Loyd Woodard, 43, of Corrigan.
In addition to the controlled substances, law‑enforcement officers recovered property believed to have been stolen during the burglary that triggered the investigation.
Charges filed
The five individuals were taken into custody and charged with a range of offenses, including possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and burglary‑related crimes. Specific charges were listed in a press release from the sheriff’s office.
Police officials emphasized that the swift action demonstrates the department’s commitment to protecting Polk County residents from both violent crime and the scourge of illegal drugs. The arrests also serve as a reminder that law‑enforcement agencies will pursue leads aggressively, even when they intersect with unrelated criminal activity.
Community impact
Polk County leaders praised the deputies for their diligence and urged community members to remain vigilant. Residents are encouraged to report suspicious activity and cooperate with investigators to help keep neighborhoods safe.
The sheriff’s office continues to investigate the burglary and related offenses, and further updates will be provided as the case progresses.
